In February Labour launched a 50-point animal welfare plan, outlining policy measures a Labour Government could introduce on animal welfare, domestic pets, factory farming and slaughterhouses, wild animals, animals in sport, animals used in research and the appointment of an Animal Welfare Commissioner. The plan is out for consultation until the end of May.
On Thursday 19th April, Labour's Shadow Secretary of State for the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, Sue Hayman MP, is coming to Bury. I have arranged a roundtable meeting for interested local residents to hear about Labour's plans on animal welfare and discuss the consultation. Sue can also take questions and comments on any other issues that form part of her brief.
The venue will be confirmed once we have a clear idea of numbers.
